Tony Hsieh, the former CEO of Zappos, has passed away at the age of 46

According to local media, Tony Hsieh, the former CEO of Zappos, died Friday at the age of 46 in the family home after being seriously injured in a fire in the family’s home.

Zappos is an online footwear and clothing retailer based in Las Vegas, Nevada, founded in 1999, and in 2009, Amazon acquired Zappos; its profits and business have increased since Tony Hsieh was at its helm.

Tony Hsieh, who many describe as a wise man, loved by everyone and praised by many from various circles, whether from his family or friends and even politicians.

Governor Sizolak wrote on Twitter: “Tony Hsieh played a pivotal role in helping transform Downtown Las Vegas. Kathy and I send our love and condolences to Tony’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

Las Vegas City Councilor Cedric Crear said he was “Very saddened to hear of the passing of Tony Hsieh. Such a creative & innovative person who positively helped change the landscape of Downtown Las Vegas. We have been working on some cool projects for Downtown. God speed to his family, coworkers and our community.”

PayPal co-founder and former CTO Max Levchin also wrote on Tony, “So sad to hear about Tony Hsieh’s passing. A truly original thinker, a brilliant entrepreneur, and a kind-hearted and generous friend to so many.”
