Bayern Munich wasted two valuable points in the campaign to defend the German football league title by drawing its host Union Berlin 1-1 on Saturday in the eleventh stage.
Leipzig shared the lead with the Bavarian club, defeating its guest Werder Bremen 2-0. Borussia Dortmund suffered a humiliating defeat at home and among its fans, losing to Stuttgart 1 – 5.
In other matches, Freiburg beat Armenian Belfield 2-0, Colin beat Mainz 1-0, and Borussia Monchengladbach drew 1-1 with Hertha Berlin.
In Berlin, Union led an early goal just four minutes into the match via Grischa Bormel. In the second half, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski managed to equalize the Bavarian club’s score in the 67th minute.
Bayern and Leipzig shared the lead with 24 points each, but Bayern was ahead of the goal difference, and Werder Bremen’s score stopped at 11 points in thirteenth place, while Union Berlin raised its tally to 17 points in sixth place.
