Dutch newspaper “De Telegraph” revealed that the Dutch capital police arrested, on Sunday, Quincy Promes, the striker of Ajax Amsterdam in the local football league, for his alleged role in a stabbing incident that occurred last July.

A police spokesman confirmed the arrest of a 28-year-old man from the capital on Sunday connected with a stabbing incident against a person last July in a city adjacent to the capital. Still, he did not confirm the detainee’s identity, and Ajax was not immediately available to comment on the newspaper’s report.

Quoting witnesses, the newspaper said that the stabbing incident took place during a family gathering organized by Quincy Promes at the headquarters of a company he owned. That Promise had quarrels with a relative and stabbed him afterward.

Police said the victim was seriously injured and had filed a report last month.

The newspaper confirmed that Promes, who previously played for Seville, Spain, and Russia’s Spartak Moscow, did not participate in Ajax training on Sunday.

Quincy Promes has played 47 international matches for the Netherlands, during which he scored seven goals.
