Argentine Lionel Messi, Barcelona’s star and captain, restored his team to the road to victories by winning (1-0) at home to Levante, Sunday evening, as part of the 13th round of La Liga.

The first threat in the match came in the 2nd minute, as Sergino Dest, Barcelona’s right back, passed across to his colleague Coutinho on the edge of the penalty area, and the Brazilian hit a strong ball. Still, it went over the goalkeeper Fernandez’s goal.

Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen starred in the 12th minute in countering a single attack by Levante player Sebastian, who hit the ball.

Levante goalkeeper Aitor Fernandez saved a powerful shot from Martin Braithwaite, the Blaugrana striker, in the 16th minute.

Lenglet missed Barcelona’s most dangerous opportunity, as Messi sent across in the rear, which Griezmann hit the header, and goalkeeper Fernandez confronted it to bounce in front of the Frenchman. The goal was empty, but he fired strongly over the crossbar in the 21st minute.

Alba fired a missile shot at the bird in the 37th minute, taking advantage of the ball’s rebound from Levante’s defense, but goalkeeper Fernandez was brilliant in the response.

With the start of the second half, Barcelona continued to press for scoring, as the ball reached Messi in the penalty area and fired hard in the 50th minute, but the goalkeeper caught it after colliding with the player Malsa.

In light of Barcelona’s inability to penetrate Levante’s defense, the former resorted to a solution of shooting from outside the area via Griezmann, Messi, and Coutinho, but to no avail.

And from an indirect free-kick by Messi inside the area, Lenglet headed, but Levante’s highest goal was in the 66th minute.

The visitors’ goalkeeper confronted a surprise shot by Messi and turned it into a corner in the 71st minute.

Lionel Messi finally scored in the 76th minute, when he received a pass deep into the penalty area from Frenkie de Jong and fired to the left of the goalkeeper with force, so the ball settled into the net after hitting the post.

Barcelona continued to attack to double the result, in front of weak attempts by Levante to adjust. Still, the remaining minutes passed without new, and the match ended with the Blaugrana victory (1-0).

With this victory, Barcelona raised its score to 17 points, in eighth place in the La Liga table, while Levante stuck at 11 points, in eighteenth place.

Coman: We can be crowned La Liga … and Messi has proven this

“In the second half, we played better, and it was difficult for us to penetrate, and it was a deserved victory after a good job, and the opponent pressed a lot, and they had opportunities in the first half,” Coman said, in comments reported by the Spanish newspaper, Marca, after the match.

He added: “Playing with 3 defenders? If there is little left of the match until it ends, and the opponent puts more people in the attack, we must defend the result, and it was important to win this match so that we have confidence in the match Wednesday.”

He continued: “Messi? We must admit that the opponents do not provide him with facilities, they watch him a lot, but he has proven to be decisive.”
