Liverpool is looking to sign one of Barcelona’s most important goals next summer, according to a Catalan press report.
Barcelona wants to sign Spanish Manchester City defender Eric Garcia during the winter transfer window after an unsuccessful attempt to join him last summer.
But City has kept their player, and they could postpone the deal until the end of this season when Eric Garcia’s contract with the English club will expire.
According to the Catalan newspaper “Sport”, Liverpool have set their sights on Garcia, to join him during the next summer Mercato.
After the Premier League champion has suffered some big blows this season, with defenders Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez injured, coach Juergen Klopp has had to rely on a few youngsters.
Liverpool believes Eric Garcia has good potential, has experience in the Premier League and European competitions, and will join a free transfer.
The newspaper stressed that Garcia has no plans to renew his contract with Manchester City, looking for a greater opportunity to play, so it is expected that the competition for his inclusion will witness a strong struggle between Liverpool and Barcelona.
