Arsenal continued to struggle in the Premier League with a 2-1 loss to Everton at Goodison Park, only five points from the relegation zone on Saturday.

Everton, who climbed to second place, took the lead in the 22nd minute when Alex Iwobi crossed and Dominic Calvert-Lewin tried to score, but the ball collided with Arsenal defender Rob Houlding and accidentally turned in his own goal.

Michael Arteta’s side equalized with a penalty kick by Nicolas Pepe, following a foul by Tom Davies against Ainsley Maitland-Nils. But Everton regained the lead before the break when Yerry Mina promoted a corner kick by Gilfi Sigurdsson and scored with a powerful header.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford starred and saved a dangerous attempt by Bocayo Saca in the last minute to secure Carlo Ancelotti’s side their third successive victory.

Everton is second with 26 points in the table, five behind leaders and rivals Liverpool, with Arsenal, who has won only four times in 14 games, is 15th with 14 points.
