Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o, the former Barcelona striker, has been the legitimate successor to Argentine legend Lionel Messi, among the current Catalan players.
Messi’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the current season, and no agreement has yet been reached on signing a new contract.
“I think Fati is the best, he does unbelievable things, so I think the club needs to prepare him and take care of him,” Eto’o said in comments reported by the Spanish newspaper, Mundo Deportivo.
He added, “I hope he is the person who will replace Messi.”
Ansu Fati is currently absent from Barcelona due to a knee injury he suffered in the Real Betis match, and subsequently underwent surgery, and he is expected to return next month.
Ansu Fati played 34 games for Barcelona’s first team, scoring 13 goals and making 5 more.
