Lionel Messi was officially suspended by the disciplinary committee

The competitions commission of the Spanish Football Federation announced today, Tuesday, the official sanction of Lionel Messi, the Barcelona star.

Messi received a red card right after the ballless attack on Athletic Bilbao steel player Villalebri in the Spanish Super Cup final.

The Spanish newspaper “Marca” published the Competition Committee’s decision to suspend Lionel Messi for two matches for having deliberately slapped Villalibri.

Following this decision, Messi will miss the match against Cornia next Thursday in the 32nd round of the Spanish Cup, in addition to the match against Elche next Sunday in the 20th round of La Liga.

The red card Messi received in the Spanish Super Cup final is the first for the Argentina star with the Catalan side in his career, which has played 753 games.
