Another gift for Real Madrid and Barcelona from Levante

Levante dealt another painful blow to Atletico Madrid and beat him at home at the “Wanda Metropolitano” stadium 2-0 on Saturday in the Spanish Football League’s twenty-fourth stage.

After the two teams drew 1-1 at the Levante stadium last Wednesday, in a postponed match in the second stage of the league, Levante today beat Atletico Madrid with two goals scored by Jose Luis Morales in the 30th minute, and Jorge de Frutos in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Levante raised his score to 31 points to climb to eighth place, while Atletico Madrid stuck at 55 points at the top, 6 points ahead of Real Madrid, and 9 points against third-placed Barcelona.

The defeat of Atletico Madrid in today’s match revived Real Madrid and Barcelona’s hopes to reduce the difference through the same stage. Real Madrid faces Valladolid later today, and Barcelona meets Cadiz tomorrow.

Although Atletico Madrid has a postponed match, their stumbling today could significantly affect their chances of winning the title, given the remaining match schedule, including collisions with Real Madrid and Barcelona.
