An English press report confirmed today, Friday, that Manchester City and Chelsea are the closest to signing the Norwegian Erling Haaland, the star of Borussia Dortmund, next summer.
Haaland is performing remarkably well with Dortmund this season, scoring 27 goals in 25 matches in all competitions, becoming a goal for the European giants.
According to the British newspaper “Sun”, Dortmund will ask for 150 million pounds to sell Haaland next summer, although his contract contains a clause that allows the player to leave in the summer of 2022 for only half the amount.
The newspaper explained that the major clubs in Europe will not wait until the summer of 2022 to settle the deal, as more than one club will enter the conflict at the time, since the required amount is not huge for a player like Haaland.
The newspaper added that Manchester City and Chelsea are currently the most financially capable of joining the player, indicating that there is confidence within Chelsea in joining Haaland, after they contacted those close to him.
