Barca tops LaLiga on the night of Messi’s brilliance

The Argentine star Lionel Messi brought Barcelona to the top of the standings by leading them to a 5-1 win over Valladolid by scoring two goals with two assists on Tuesday (October 29th) in the 11th round of La Liga.

Barça scored specifically in the second minute via French international defender Clement Langley with a close-range shot that hit the foot of Italian defender Federico Barba in the crossbar before kissing the net, but Valladolid realized the equalizer after 13 minutes through his defender Kiko, who sent a ball away from the German goalkeeper Ter Stegen, after a free-kick by Oscar Plano (15).

Messi took the lead for his team when he passed the ball on a gold plate to Chilean Arturo Vidal inside the box (29), before scoring the third on a free kick shot from outside of the repair surface (34).

Messi strengthened the Catalan club’s lead with the fourth goal when he received a ball from Croatian substitute Ivan Rakitic, so he set it up for himself on his thigh and he shot the ball to the right of the goalkeeper (75) scoring his fourth Liga goal this season before Uruguayan Luis Suarez scored his team’s fifth goal (77).

This is the fifth consecutive win for Barcelona and the seventh this season, bringing his total to 22 points, regaining the lead he lost in the final leg for Granada, after missing the matches due to the deferral of the Clasico against his Real Madrid’s traditional rival to 18 December, following the events of violence in Catalonia, who protested against prison sentences of separatist leaders.

Barça is two points ahead of Granada at the head of the standings, which will face Getafe Thursday at the end of the phase, and Atletico Madrid, which has fallen into the trap of the fourth draw in its last five matches.
