Media reports revealed, on Wednesday, that Barcelona had put 18 players on the transfer list in order to reduce the debts of the club.

The Catalan club is seeking to reduce debts amounting to 862 million pounds, with the players’ wage bill increasing after the arrival of the new elements, and with the expectation of more contracts in the current summer transfers.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has conducted an internal audit of the club’s finances and wants to get rid of the senior team to help reduce debts and cut salaries.

Philippe Coutinho is the main candidate for sale, while the French Antoine Griezmann represents the best opportunity for Barcelona in order to obtain a large sum of money, and the value of the Brazilian Coutinho is estimated at about 50 million pounds, with a slight increase in the price of Griezmann.

According to the report of the “Qoul” website, the players who receive a large wage will be talked to, Sergio Busquets, with whom Laporta is scheduled to hold talks about reducing his salary.

The report added: Jordi Alba and Clement Lenglet are also on the list, along with Sergi Roberto, who has been linked by the media with a move to Manchester City.

It is also expected that Memphis Depay will join the Catalan club on a free transfer, but with a very high salary, at a time when Barcelona lost the opportunity to sign Georginio Wijnaldum due to the entry of Paris Saint-Germain to the Dutchman.

Ousmane Dembele has not yet agreed to extend his contract, and he will be offered to the clubs that want the player if he does not sign the renewal, as Barcelona fears losing him for free next season when his contract expires, and the club will try to sell him and get 50 million euros this summer if he does not want to renewal.

At the same time, Sergino Dest, Gerard Pique, Ricky Puig, Francisco Trincao and Emerson entered the danger zone, and Argentine star Lionel Messi remains the priority in Barcelona, and is expected to extend his contract to stay in the “Camp Nou”.
