Englishman David Beckham became involved in the heated and old debate about the preference between Portuguese stars Cristiano Ronaldo or Argentine Lionel Messi, putting the latter in a position far from the rest of the players.

The two stars dominated individual awards in the last decade and won 11 times the Golden Ball, awarded to the best player in the world.

12 Players choose the best between Messi and Ronaldo

With the two-star career reaching its last stations, the former superstar of Man United, Real Madrid and the “Three Lions” team said that “Messi is in a world alone, it is impossible to find another player like him.”

He continued – in an interview with the Argentine Team – “as a player unlike anyone, even Ronaldo, even though he is above the other players, but he does not reach the level of Messi.”

“There are many similarities between the players in skills and talent, which is great for football and their presence at the same time.”

“Messi is simply the best in the world,” he concluded.

It is noteworthy that Ronaldo – who played for Manchester United and Real Madrid – did not play Beckham in both teams, and did not play any game against Beckham, but the latter – when he was a player in Paris Saint-Germain – faced Messi in the 2013 European Champions League.
