Brazil coach Tite (Adenor Leonardo Bacchi) revealed that he will not talk about the squad participating in the Copa America until after facing Ecuador and Paraguay in the World Cup qualifiers, amid media reports about the refusal of some players to participate in the tournament.
This week, the South American Confederation (CONMEBOL) decided to move the tournament to Brazil instead of Argentina, which withdrew from the organization due to the high cases of Coronavirus, and local unrest in Colombia.
It will be the second time in a row that Brazil will organize the competitions.
According to the statistics of the Brazilian Ministry of Health Thursday, the country recorded 83,391 new cases of the virus, in addition to 1,682 deaths.
Brazil is preparing for the matches Ecuador on Friday and Paraguay next Tuesday.
A report on Radio Gaucha stated that players who play in Europe do not want to participate in Copa America.
Tite indicated that the team talked about Copa America and its position will be clarified next week.
He said: We have a position that we will not announce at present. We have a duty to put in a strong performance and beat Ecuador. We will clarify everything after the two World Cup qualifiers, and Casemiro did not attend the press conference because of this.
Tite explained that the players of the national team met with Rogerio Caboclo, president of the Brazilian Confederation, and explained their opinion.
Brazil will begin its Copa America defense campaign against Venezuela in Brasilia on June 13th.
