Dembélé: a glass player outside Euro 2020

The curse continues to fall on Ousmane Dembélé. Barely recovered from a previous injury, the French international has relapsed during training, Monday, February 3 and is expected to miss several weeks of competition, approaching the knockout stages of the Champions League and Euro 2020.

The Blaugrana striker has been diagnosed with a complete hamstring tear in his right leg, the La Liga giant announced on Tuesday. Dembélé suffered the blow during a training session on Monday, after speeding up his recovery from a hamstring problem that has marginalized him since November.

“Tests on Ousmane Dembélé on Tuesday showed that the player had a complete proximal hamstring tear in the right thigh,” the club said. “In the next few hours, a decision will be made on the treatment to be followed for his recovery,” he added.

Although the club has not set a deadline for its recovery, several sources in Spain claim that its season is well and truly over.

The 2018 world champion has made only nine appearances for Barça this season and spent a month earlier this season with a left thigh injury. The 22-year-old arrived at Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for an initial amount of 105 million euros, but his stay in Spain is often spoiled by numerous injuries.

Barcelona will face Naples in the knockout stages of the Champions League on February 25. France will start its Euro 2020 campaign against Germany in Munich on June 16.
