Spanish football club Espagnol announced today, Saturday, June 27, the dismissal of its coach, Abelardo Fernandez, to become the third coach dismissed by the struggling club this season.

“Espanyol announced that Abelardo Fernandez had been relieved of his duties as the first-team coach,” the club said in a statement.

The statement added that “this decision was made following the team’s performance in the last matches and to achieve a clear objective is to maintain the club’s presence in the first-class league.”

It should be noted that Fernandez joined Espanyol training last December after the club had renounced the services of its predecessor David Gayego and Pablo Machin.

This surprising decision comes just a day before the interview, which will bring together the last in the ranking with leader Real Madrid, who will aspire to win the match and progress to the title.
