Five FC Barcelona players and two members of the club’s technical staff are said to have tested positive for coronavirus but have since fully recovered.

5 FC Barcelona players whose identity has not been revealed were tested positive during a blood test analysis at the start of the pandemic, according to Catalan radio RAC1.

During the early stages of the epidemic, Spain was one of the most affected countries in the world. Barcelona, therefore, sought to ensure the safety of its team by testing everyone at the club for the virus, five players and two coaches affected by the virus, despite no symptoms.

The club did not disclose the information and it was not included in the official La Liga report on the situation, and all those affected are said to have recovered and returned to work.

The players have resumed group training as they actively prepare for the La Liga restart on June 11. Barça’s first return match will take place in Mallorca on June 13. La Liga suspended its games for the first time on March 14.

There are 11 game rounds left to play in Spain. FC Barcelona currently leads the standings with a two-point lead over rival Real Madrid.
