The match was thrilling from the start, Betis scoring their first goal by Sergio Canales in the sixth minute with a penalty kick, but Dutchman Frenkie de Jong quickly tied the game for Barça in the ninth minute.
Betis started to improve again after Nabil Fekir scored the Andalusian team’s second goal in the 26th minute, but Sergio Busquets scored the equalizer for Barcelona in the third minute of added time.
Barcelona snatched the three points, after Clement Lingley scored the third goal in the 72nd minute, to lead the Catalan team to beat Betis, the team of the former Andalusian coach, and the current Barcelona coach.
The two teams finished the game with ten players after a Fekir and Clement Lenglet were sent off in the 76th and 79th minutes respectively, having received their second warning.
The balance of Barcelona, the titleholder of the competition in the last two seasons, has risen to 49 points in second place with a difference of three points behind the leader Real Madrid, while the balance of Betis has remained at 28 points in thirteenth place.
