The International Athletics Federation (IAAF) has said it is ready to review the programming of its World Championships, scheduled for August 2021 in Eugène, in the United States, faced with the possibility of postponing the 2020 Olympics due of the coronavirus pandemic.

The IAAF indicates, in a press release, to have already started discussions with the organizing committee of the Worlds 2021 on the possibility that the Olympic Games 2020 could be postponed to the following year, announcing that the committee opened, at its turn, discussions with its key partners.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) admitted on Sunday that it had “started discussions” with all stakeholders about the Olympics, which are expected to open in four months, including “a postponement scenario”.

The Worlds-2021 are scheduled from August 6 to 15 in Eugene, in the coastal state of Oregon (northwest).
