Inter Milan clinched the first pass to the semi-finals of the European League after beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in the opening of the quarter-final matches hosted by Germany.

And at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Nicoll Barella and Romelu Lukaku scored the goals for Inter in the 15th and 21st minutes, and Leverkusen narrowed the score with Kai Havertz in the 25th minute.

The assistant refereeing video technology (Var) deprived Inter Milan of two penalty kicks, and the confrontation ended with a victory that guaranteed the Italian club to qualify for the match between Shakhtar Donetsk, Ukraine, and Basel, Switzerland.
