Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, the body responsible for managing professional football in Spain, announced on Friday that the next season of the Spanish championship will start on September 12.
“The important thing will be to know the end date of this season. The next one will start on September 12,” Tebas said in a broadcast on specialty radio “Marca”.
Regarding the resumption of the championship, the boss of LaLiga stressed “we will start on June 11. We are waiting for Madrid and Barcelona to move to phase 2 of deconfinement”.
In this sense, he assured that more than 130 people are currently working so that everything can be done in a new form. “We are ready for a recovery,” he insisted.
On May 23, the Spanish government gave the green light for the resumption of professional sports, and therefore the football championship, from the week of June 8.
La Liga, with 11 days to go, hopes to resume on Thursday 11 June with the Andalusian derby between Betis Sevilla and Sevilla FC.
