Premier League champions Liverpool announced on Monday they have signed a long-term contract with Preston defender Ben Davis.
In the first deal for a major club on the last day of the winter transfer market, Liverpool, led by German coach Jürgen Klopp, signed a contract with 25-year-old Davis.
Media reports indicated that the deal’s value could reach one million and 600 thousand pounds (two million and 200 thousand dollars).
The contract with Davis to compensate for the numerical shortfall in Liverpool’s defenses came in Virgil van Dyck and Gomez’s absence.
“We have seen the efficiency and the potential as well because he is still 25 years old, and he is expected to give a lot,” Klopp said.
