Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp admitted on Friday that he would be very interested in Argentina international Lionel Messi, noting, however, that the club do not intend to enlist the services of the FC Barcelona star.

“Who wouldn’t want Messi on his team? But no way that will happen. The numbers are not at all within our capabilities. But, he is a good player, honestly .. ”, said the German coach at a press conference on the eve of the match against Arsenal.

Manchester City, big rivals of Liverpool in recent seasons, are in pole position to welcome the Argentine if he leaves the Blaugranas, due to his links with Pep Guardiola.

On Tuesday, FC Barcelona confirmed to have received, on Tuesday, a document sent by Lionel Messi announcing that he wanted to leave the Catalan club this summer.

In contract until June 30, 2021 with Barça, Messi communicated to the club via fax that he wants to “unilaterally” terminate his contract, club sources have confirmed, quoted by local media.

After a catastrophic season marked by a humiliating elimination from the Champions League against Bayern (8-2), Messi has initiated proceedings to terminate his contract unilaterally, under a clause that expired on June 10.

This clause allows the player to decide his future after each season in agreement with the managers of the club.
