Manchester United return to victories in the festival of goals against Southampton

Manchester United swept their hosts Southampton 9-0 during the match that brought them together Tuesday in the twenty-second round of the English Premier League, which also saw Crystal Palace win over Newcastle 2-1, Wolverhampton over Arsenal 2-1 and Sheffield United over West Bromwich with the same result.

Manchester United goals Aaron Van Bissaka scored in the 18th minute, Marcus Rashford in the 25th minute, Jan Bednarik, the Southampton player, by mistake in his team’s goal in the 34th minute, and Edinson Cavani in the 39th minute, to end the first half with Manchester United leading 4-0.

In the second half, Anthony Martial scored the fifth goal for Manchester United in the 69th minute, and Scott Maktominay in the 71st minute, then Bruno Fernandez scored the seventh goal in the 87th minute from a penalty kick, before Martial scored his second and eighth goal for Manchester United in the last minute of time.

In the original match, Daniel James then concluded with Manchester United goals in the third minute of stoppage time. The second minute saw Alexander Jankvitz, the Southampton player, be sent off in the second minute, then Jan Bednarik, the Southampton player, was sent off in the 87th minute.

Manchester United raised its score to 44 points in second place, on goal difference behind Manchester City and Southampton’s score stopped at 28 points in twelfth place.
