Manchester United regained the Premier League standings, which they missed for a few hours, after their precious 3-1 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday in the twenty-fifth stage of the competition.
Manchester United rose to 49 points in second place, ahead of Leicester City, third-placed, equal in the same balance, who advanced to second place (temporarily), after winning 2-1 at Aston Villa earlier today in the stage Itself.
On the other hand, Newcastle, who suffered its fourteenth loss in the championship during the current season, froze at 25 points in seventeenth place (fourth from the bottom), only three points ahead of the relegation centers, and still has a postponed match.
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for United in the 30th minute, but Alan St. Maximin quickly tied for Newcastle in the 36th minute. Daniel James returned to United in the 57th minute, and Bruno Fernandez added the third goal in the 75th minute with a penalty kick.
With this goal, Fernandez strengthened his presence in the second place in the league’s top scorer list this season with 15 goals, two goals behind Egyptian international star Mohamed Salah, the top scorer for Liverpool, who is at the top so far.
This victory comes to bring back the smile to the fans of Manchester United again after the disappointment they suffered after the team drew in the last two matches of the competition with Everton and West Bromwich Albion.
