Spanish media, including the newspaper La Banguardia, reported today, Saturday, that Lionel Messi is not planning to undergo the Corona test tomorrow, Sunday, or attend Barcelona’s training session on Monday, after his shocking announcement earlier this week of his desire to leave the club.
The Spanish newspaper MARCA said Messi was “at war” with the club he spent nearly his life in by deciding to leave.
La Bangwardia indicated that Messi sent a new “Borofax”, which is the means by which he informed the club of his desire to leave, to inform Barcelona of his decision not to attend the first training session under the leadership of the new coach Ronald Koeman.
Spanish media reported that Messi’s lawyers have said he does not need to attend training sessions if he really expresses his desire to leave the club.
Messi’s lawyers earlier this week referred to a clause in a contract that the Argentine signed in 2017 that would allow him to leave the club for free, but if he asks to do so before June 10.
They stressed that this clause is usually applied at the end of the season, but the season was postponed and extended to August due to the Corona pandemic.
The regulations stipulate that Messi will be punished by deducting part of his salary in the event that he is absent from the medical examination Sunday and Monday training.
