Football stars raced in the last hours to discover millions of euros in donations for hospitals and health centers in various European countries, in order to help face the repercussions of the spread of the pandemic Covid-19.

According to media reports in Portugal, the star Cristiano Ronaldo granted € 1 million to Jorge Mendes to expand and equip intensive care departments in two hospitals in Porto and Lisbon.

In Spain, reports revealed that Argentine star Lionel Messi donated 1 million euros to a hospital in Barcelona and a medical center in Argentina.

For his part, the Spanish coach, Pepe Guardiola, granted one million euros to one of the Spanish charities to obtain medical equipment and labor means for the medical teams that monitor the cases that flock to Spanish hospitals.

In Italy, Inter striker Romelio Lukaku granted 100,000 euros to a hospital in Milan.

Several football stars have launched initiatives to collect donations for hospitals, including Polish Robert Lewandowski, Senegalese Sadio Mane, and Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Coronavirus has infected more than half a million people and killed nearly 19 thousand of them. European countries such as Italy, Spain, and France have turned into new foci of the virus after receding in China, which appeared last year.
