Barcelona is heading to sue its former star Neymar and ask him to return more than 10 million euros after paying additional sums to the Brazilian star during his time at the club (2013-2017).
The results concluded that after the tax audit – which covered the 2015 financial period – the Blaugranas paid large sums to Neymar and is now looking to recover the money.
The Spanish newspaper “El Mundo” – which revealed this information – indicated that the tax agency claimed that the Brazilian benefited from “illicit enrichment” because Barcelona paid a lump sum greater than his dues in his contract.
As a result, the Catalan giants filed a lawsuit based on “overpayment” but the tax agency informed Barcelona that if the situation were not resolved amicably, the additional money paid (€ 10.2 million) would be considered a “donation” from the club to Neymar.
It is noteworthy that Neymar is one of the highest debtors to the Spanish Treasury, and according to the results released last September, the Brazilian star owes more than 34.6 million euros.
