American football star Megan Rapinoe confirmed that she would not respond to President Donald Trump’s invitation to visit the White House and that most players would do the same.

“I’m not going to go,” in case I was invited to the White House, said Rapinoe, the scorer of the Women’s World Cup who saw the crowning of her country and the victory over the Netherlands 2 -0 in the final, in an interview with the “CNN” American, she added, “I think most of the players on the team will not leave.”

“I do not think (the visit) will make sense, I do not think any of my colleagues want to be in this situation.”

Rapinoe, a political activist, has expressed her opposition to Trump’s policy by kneeling and playing the national anthem or placing her hands behind.

Trump did not hesitate to argue with the American star, asking him not to “reduce the respect” of the homeland.

In a series of previous tweets, Trump said: “Megan should never underestimate her country, the White House, nor our flag, especially if so much has been done for her and her team.

The president said in the same series of tweets that he would invite the women’s football team to go to the White House because he was a “big fan” of the team.

Celebrations around the country

The American team will begin its celebrations as a first step on the streets of New York in an open bus,
they will be received by the governor of the state, Bill de Palacio.

The city of Los Angeles comes in the second stage of the celebrations, where they will be presented at the sporting event “Space” in parallel with the Oscars.
