Serie A: Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Italy to resume training

After being confined to Portugal, his homeland, following the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Turin on Monday evening to resume individual training.Cristiano Ronaldo was recalled from Portugal as Serie A clubs resumed individual training on Monday after a two-month layoff due to the health crisis. The Portuguese star arrived on a private jet with his family at Turin airport, local press reported. Ronaldo arrived from his native island of Madeira where he spent two weeks in confinement.

A few days ago, the Italian government gave the green light for Serie A to resume individual training, starting Monday, May 4.

However, Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora has warned that although individual training may resume, group training must wait until May 18. And with Italy still plagued by the pandemic that has killed nearly 29,000 people, it is not certain that matches will resume.

“Nothing has changed from what I have always said about football,” said Spadafora, before adding: “Team training will not resume until May 18 and the resumption of the championship, for the moment is not really discussed ”.

The Italian government continues to maintain the suspense about the resumption of the championship which still has more than 100 games to play, in addition to the semi-final of Coppa Italia. Juve are in first place in Serie A with a point advantage over Lazio.

Juventus is also still in the Champions League. Ronaldo has scored 25 goals this season in 32 games after scoring 28 last season.

The Old Lady was also a victim of the virus which contaminated many of her players including Daniele Rugani, Blaise Matuidi or Paulo Dybala who tested positive on four occasions. All team members will be retested once they arrive in the country.
