In Getafe club involved in manipulating the outcome of the Spanish league match, supporting at the same time its captain Jorge Molina after reports claimed Friday that he is under investigation by the police about a meeting from last season between his team and Villarreal.

The police are checking an alleged WhatsApp conversation indicating that Molina was aware of payments of seven players from Villarreal in order to help lose against Getafe on the last day of last season, according to reports in the Spanish press.

Villarreal issued a statement on behalf of the club and the players on Friday “to show its absolute rejection of the charges.”

Getafe missed the chance to participate in the Champions League after a 2-2 draw in Villarreal, which allowed Valencia to win the fourth place by beating Valladolid 2-0.
