World tennis number 1, Serbian Novak Djokovic announced on Tuesday that he had tested positive for coronavirus. A statement from his staff explains that “Novak Djokovic has tested positive for Covid-19, but he has no symptoms.”

The player, tested on arrival in Belgrade from Croatia, is added to the list of contaminated players (Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, Viktor Troicki) on the sidelines of the charity tournament (Adria Tour) he organized in the Balkans.

The tennis player is placed in the fortnight and will be tested in five days.

“We organized the tournament at a time when the virus was weakened and we thought that the conditions to organize the tour were met. […] I am very sorry for all the individual cases of infection. I hope it will not complicate anyone’s health and that everyone will be fine, “said Djokovic in particular.

As a reminder, the Adria Tour started on June 13 in Belgrade, Djokovic’s hometown. Neither the crowd, nor the players, did not respect the social distance.

Criticized on the issue, Djoko had responded to criticism by exhibiting the “rather decent” assessment of the Balkan countries in their fight against the coronavirus.

After the announcement of Dimitrov’s positive case, the Adria Tour final between Zverev and Djokovic had been canceled.
