UEFA: in case of season stoppage, Places in European competitions “sporting merit”

UEFA seems to have made its decision on whether to qualify the clubs for European competition if the season is stopped due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Although it has not yet set dates for the resumption of various European championships and competitions, the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) is considering all of its options and considering solutions.

In a statement published on Thursday 23 April, UEFA said that if the season is stopped due to the coronavirus, places in European club competitions will have to be attributed to “sporting merit”.

“UEFA urges national associations and leagues to explore all possible options for playing all high-level national competitions giving access to the competitions,” she said after consulting with the various football bodies before add :
