A year after the presentation of the Mate X smartphone, which received a flexible screen, the Chinese company presented its updated version – Mate XS, which improved performance. In particular, the device received a more durable screen cover and a new folding mechanism writes The Verge.

Externally, the new smartphone is almost no different from its predecessor: a flexible screen is located on the exterior surface and, once unfolded, the Mate XS turns into a tablet with an 8-inch screen. Once folded, the device is a two-way smartphone with two screens. The new smartphone runs on a Kirin 990 processor with integrated support for 5G networks. The Mate XS received 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of main memory, as well as a battery capacity of 4500 mAh.

The main camera of the Huawei Mate XS includes four modules: the main 40-megapixel module, an ultra-wide-angle 16-megapixel module, an 8-megapixel telephoto module, as well as a depth sensor. Due to US sanctions, the Android smartphone will be delivered without Google services; instead, users will have access to similar Huawei services, including the application store of a Chinese company.

If Huawei Mate X was sold only in China, its heir, according to company representatives, will enter the market in other countries as early as March. The cost of the device will be 2499 euros.
